Grace and peace be with you all!
You are all invited to gather virtually to celebrate the Ascension of the Lord, including Holy Communion on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. I am pleased to be able to share this with you via Zoom.
As we all know, the crisis created by the COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted our lives, caused much pain and grief, and presented many challenges. Still, it also provides us with unique opportunities to gather virtually, experience fellowship, and have services that teach us about festivals and/or traditions. We have definitely learned about how the Holy Spirit can foster community among us even while we are not in the same physical space during this time.
I look forward to joining hearts and hands around the virtual Table of the Lord and partaking in the elements. Everyone will need to provide their own elements – preferably bread and whatever fruit of the vine you choose (i.e., something edible and drinkable). Together we will celebrate the Ascension of the Lord receiving a foretaste of the great banquet.
I am grateful to Steve Brummett for coordinating and handling much of the technical aspect of our virtual celebration. He will open up the meeting early for a time of fellowship and so that those who are nervous or unfamiliar with Zoom can become comfortable with the platform. Please note: You do not need a laptop or smartphone to take part in. You have the option of calling in and taking part on your phone. Still seeing one another is something I am looking forward to during this period of social distancing. I will email with the links tomorrow. I look forward to being with you.
Faithfully, John
