Reverend John Taylor
John began his ministry as pastor and head of staff at JPC in July of 2013. Life has been a bit of a whirlwind for John and his wife, Kate McAllister Taylor, ever since. Thirty one days, or four sermons, into this new call they were blessed with their first child, Katie Parks. Just as the dust was beginning to settle they were blessed, once more, to welcome John, Jr. into their lives in September of 2015.
A native of Raleigh, John received a B.A. in Religious Studies from Elon University (1994). He attended Candler School of Theology at Emory University and earned his M.Div. degree from Princeton Theological Seminary (2000). Upon graduation from Seminary, John felt the spirit (and warmer temperatures) leading him back to the South and ended up serving churches in Birmingham, AL, Hernando, MS, and Sumner, MS. After ten years in the Deep South, he returned home to the Old North State where he enjoyed interim pastorates in Raleigh and Henderson before accepting God’s call to move to Sanford and serve Jonesboro PC.
Away from JPC, John enjoys spending time with his family, especially adventures to the beach, wilderness trails, and mountains. He enjoys a wide-range of sports, particularly college football, basketball, the English Premier League, and PGA Tour. John is excited about what God is doing at JPC and in our community. He hopes JPC will continue to build on its history of being a warm, passionate and caring congregation that reaches out to and welcomes all God’s children.
